The Simon Rodriguez Family

Simon Rodriguez was born in Camargo, Chihuahua, México in 1879, the son of Primo Rodríguez and Victoriana Ponce. He married Juana Galindo in Jesus Nazareno Temple, Ojinaga, Mexico on August 17th, 1899. She was born in Mexico in 1882, the daughter of Gabriel Galindo and Luciana Urias.. In 1905 they immigrated to Southern Brewster County, Texas with three children and by 1906 had settled in the Terlingua area. Three of their children were baptized in Terlingua, Texas between 1906 and 1909. Between October 1916 and September 1918 Simon sold over 58 cords of fuel wood to the Study Butte Mining Company for $385.45. Simon and Juana were still in the Terlingua area in 1920. Juana died in Big Spring, Texas on October 27th, 1949 and is buried in the Big Spring City Cemetery. No additional information is available on Simon.. Simon and Juana had ten children:
1. Daughter Isa Rodriguez was born in Mexico c 1900. She was still living with her parents in the Terlingua area in 1920.
2. Son Jose Galindo Rodriguez was born March 19th, 1901. He probably worked on the furnace crew for the Study Butte Mining Company from August through November 1916 for $.75 to $1.00 per shift, typical wages for a teenager. Jose eventually settled in Pecos, Texas, where he worked for the P.V.S. Railroad. He died on August 13th, 1976 in Winkler County Memorial Hospital, Kermit, Texas of Cardio-respiratory arrest and was buried in the Barstow, Texas Cemetery. At the time of his death he was living at 1212 East 2nd Street, Pecos, Texas.
3. Daughter Rosalia Rodriguez was born circa 1903 in Mexico. In 1920 she was still living with her parents in the Terlingua area.
4. Son Simon Rodriguez, twin brother of Maria, was born July 11th, 1906. He was baptized by Father Brocardus in Terlingua, Texas on September 23rd, 1906. His godparents were Preciliano Quintela and Luisa Chavarria.
5. Daughter Maria Rodriguez, twin sister of Simon, was born July 11th, 1906. She was baptized by Father Brocardus in Terlingua, Texas on September 23rd, 1906. Her godparents were Preciliano Quintela and Mauricia Chavarria. She was living with her parents in the Terlingua, Texas area in 1920.
6. Son Francisco Rodriguez was born June 16th, 1909. He was baptized November 1st, 1909 by Father Brocardus in Terlingua, Texas. His godparents were Tranquilino Morales and Luisa Chavarria.
7. Son Sebastian Galindo Rodriguez was born in Terlingua, Texas on January 14th, 1914. By 1929 he had settled in Big Spring, Texas and remained there until his death. He was a laborer. He died on October 16th, 1976 in Hall-Bennett Hospital of acute massive myocardial infraction. He was buried on October 22nd 1976 at Mount Olive Cemetery in Big Spring. One son, Merejildo Rodriguez, has been identified.
8. Son Juan Rodriguez was born in Terlingua January 15th, 1915.
9. Daughter Isabel Rodriguez was born in Texas circa 1918.
10. Daughter Librada Rodriguez was born in Texas circa 1920.
