Merardo Reyes Sr., 84, of Alpine, died Oct. 20, 1984, at an Odessa hospital following an illness.
Rosary was Oct. 22 and Mass Oct. 23 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with burial in Holy Angels Cemetery under the direction of Geeslin Funeral Home.
He was born June 8, 1910 in Terlingua and was a lifelong resident of Brewster County. He was a Catholic and a member of Cursillista of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. He worked for many years at Sul Ross State University.
Survivors include his wife Jesusita Reyes of Alpine, two daughters, Rosaria DeLaO and Concha Molinar, both of Alpine; one son, Merardo Reyes Jr. of Alpine; one brother, Andres Reyes of Alpine; 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Nolberto Reyes.
Minister was Father Bill Ryan.
Pallbearers were Otillo Ramos, Pete Ramirez, Raul Ramos, Arturo Valenzuela, Jesus Franco, and Joe Lewis Hernandez.
