MIDLAND Macario G. Cadena, 81, of Midland, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009.
He was born Jan.2, 1928, in Terlingua, Texas, to Librado Cadena and Maria Granado Cadena.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a Division 240 Engineer in Japan. Macario married the love of his life, Natalia Vega, in September 1951. Macario was retired from the City of Midland. He was Baptist and a member of Iglesia Betel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carlos and Emiterio Cadena; two sisters, Tomasa Vasquez and Ynacia Acosta; and great-granddaughter, Jessica D. Cadena.
Macario is survived by his wife of 58 years, Natalia; three sons, Arturo Cadena and wife Eufemia, Danny Cadena and wife Cecilia of Midland, and Joe Cadena and wife Robin of Glendale, Ariz.; two daughters, Viola Almodova and husband Al of Odessa, Texas, Carol Garcia and husband Robert of Good-year, Ariz.; sisters, Lucia Prieto of Lubbock, Texas, Francisca Dominguez of Crane, Texas, Sebastiana Acosta of Grandfalls, Texas, Rosalinda Williams of Graham, Texas, Isabel Salmon of Pecos, Texas, and Mary Cavazos of Crane, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2009, at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Iglesia Bau-tista Betel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Roberto Vasquez, Carlos Cadena, Jr., Armando Prieto, Ruben Acosta, Emiterio Cadena, Jr., Roy Vasquez, and Leonel Prieto.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Home Hospice, 516 N. Texas Avenue, Odessa, Texas 79761, (432) 580-9990.
