Services for Gregorio Y. Chavarria, 86, of Fort Stockton were held Jan. 15, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Stockton with Father Joey Faylona and Floro Hinacay officiating. A prayer service by the Rev. Harold Durham was held at the Church of Christ on Jan. 14, 2005. Burial was at East Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Chavarria died Jan. 12, 2005, at his residence in Fort Stockton. He was born in Terlingua on Nov. 27, 1918 to Juan and Cleotilde Chavarria. He married Trinidad Garcia on Aug. 18, 1942, in Alpine.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a sister, Mauricia Garcia.
He is survived by three sons, Greg Chavarria and wife Sara of Austin, Samuel Chavarria and wife Alicia of Houston and Daniel Chavarria and wife Rosalinda of Fort Stockton; two daughters, Consuelo (Connie) and husband Greg Jaquez of Pecos, and Amparo and husband Orlando Almendarez of Fort Stockton; three brothers, Flavio Chavarria, Ricardo Chavarria and Felipe Chavarria, all of Fort Stockton; a sister, Anita Chavarria Gonzalez of Fort Stockton; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Fort Stockton.
