Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Serafin Avenido officiating. Burial will be at the Rose Hill section of the Ector County Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Odessa Funeral Home.
He was born in Buena Vista, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Bonifacio Chavarria Franco, Sr. passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011 at the Hospice House Facility in Odessa, Texas. Visitation was held from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, November 4, 2011 in the Chapel of the Divine Mercy at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend in Fort Stockton. A Rosary service was held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, November 4, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Stockton with Father Quirino officiating. Rite of Committal followed in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Fort Stockton. Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend of Fort Stockton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Bonifacio was born Wednesday, June 5, 1929 in Terlingua, Texas to parents Vicente and Santos Franco. He served our country honorably in the United States Army where he fought in the Korean War. As part of his military service, he also boxed on a special team for the U.S. Army. Bonifacio had been a golden glove boxer in his youth. After his tours of duty were over, Bonifacio returned to West Texas where he met and married his first wife, Maria Soledad Natividad from Saragosa, TX. Together they raised the four eldest children until Maria’s death in 1966. Bonifacio and Maria owned and operated both a small grocery store and restaurant on James St. The restaurant was a very popular hangout for students during lunch time and was also a popular hangout for the teens in the neighborhood who always kept the jukebox and arcade games going. Bonifacio later re-married to Rosa Maria Morado of Sheffield, TX. Bonifacio continued his many entrepreneurial ventures with Rosa faithfully at his side. They traveled together and made many friends. In the later part of his life, Bonifacio provided Fort Stockton and surrounding communities with produce from local farms and other miscellaneous gift items. Bonifacio and Rosa added to the family and raised a total of eleven children together.
Bonifacio was preceded in death by his parents Vicente and Santos Franco; his first wife Maria Natividad Frano; sister Juanita Sarabia; and brother Julian Franco.
Survivors include his wife Rosa Maria Franco of Fort Stockton who was his loving and faithful partner to the very end; sons Eddie Franco (Julia) of Fort Stockton, Bonifacio Franco, Jr. (Dilema) of Odessa, Texas, Ray (Karina) Franco of Fort Stockton, Texas and Eloy Franco (Danette) of San Antonio, Texas; daughters Debra Gonzales (James) of Midland, Texas, Patricia Arredondo (Mario) of San Antonio, Texas, Rena Franco of Fort Stockton, Susie Franco of Fort Stockton, Lali Perez (Alex) of San Antonio, Texas, Mary Franco of Fort Stockton, and Veronica Romero (Jose) of Fort Stockton, Texas; brother Raymundo Franco of Fort Stockton, Texas; sisters Rita Aboytes (Pete) of Rankin, Texas, Alicia Garcia (Greg) of El Paso, Texas, and Catarina Esparza (Brijido) of Rankin, Texas; thirty-three grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Rita was born on Thursday, April 17, 1919 in Terlingua, Texas to parents Antonio Molinur and Valintina (Chavarria) Franco.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her loving husband of fifty years Juan Sanchez of Fort Stockton; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Julian Chavarria Franco, age 88, passed away on Sunday, May 8,2011 in Fort Stockton, Texas. Julian was born February 17, 1923 to parents Vicente Franco and Santos Chavarria in Terlingua, Texas. Julian married Ruby Jimenez. Julian was preceded in death by wife Ruby Franco; and sons Julian C. Franco, Richard Jacob Franco, and Anthony Franco. Julian is survived by his sons Julian C. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the age of 89 years at the Home Hospice House in Odessa, Texas. Tino will be missed dearly by all his family and friends. Tino is survived by his wife, Esperanza Blanco Franco of Odessa. He is also survived by his four children: Noe Franco, Toby Franco and his wife, Frances; Rafael Franco and his wife Rosie all from Odessa; and Ines Fatzinger and her husband, David, from Amstelveen, Netherlands. Tino is also survived by his two sisters, Rita Sanchez and her husband, Juan; and Canda Silvas of Fort Stockton, Texas. Other survivors include his ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Following his time in the U.S. Army, Tino met and married his wife, Esperanza Blanco in 1947. They lived in Fort Stockton and moved to Odessa in 1953 and had four sons and one daughter together. He had his own business as a house-painter. Tino was one of the founding members of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Odessa. He was very active in the church including participating in the Men's Choir. Tino will be fondly remembered as a man who had a sweet tooth and a great sense of humor. He could be found almost every day drinking coffee with his friends at Catfish & Company. He was a gifted musician as he would often sing and play the guitar. Also, he read the bible every day. Being around his family and friends is what he enjoyed most in life. He was known and loved by all. Tino will truly be missed, but one can take comfort in knowing that he worshiped God and has now found peace in Heaven. The viewing of Tino's body will take place on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 12 noon until 5 p.m. at the Odessa Funeral Home at 1700 North Jackson. The Rosary will be conducted on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at 7 p.m. at Odessa Funeral Home. Mass in his honor will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Odessa with Monsignor Bernard Gully officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Odessa Funeral Home. The Franco Family would like to thank everyone at the Hospice Home for all the kindness and support they offered in Tino's final days. ODESSA - David B. Franco was born April 4, 1948, in Ft. Stockton, TX. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, August 3, 2002, at the Home Hospice House in Odessa. David will be missed dearly by his family and friends, but one can find comfort knowing that he had Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior and is now enjoying a wonderful eternal life in Heaven.
David is survived by his four children: Celina Davis of Lubbock, TX, Seydia Adkins and Hope Franco of Terrell, TX, and David Rey Franco of Lubbock, TX. He is also survived by his parents, Florentino (Tino) and Esperanza Franco of Odessa, TX, and his siblings: Noe Franco, Toby Franco and his wife Frances, Rafael Franco and his wife Rosie of Odessa, TX, and Ines Fatzinger and her husband David of Ayer, MA. Other survivors include his five grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. His grandson, Andrew Davis, and nephew, Zachary Franco, preceded him in death.
David served his country with distinction in the U.S. Air Force and was awarded the following: Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with Four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with Two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas (Short) Tour Ribbon, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with One Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster. After 17 years of service, David was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1986 at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
David will be remembered as a big man who had an even bigger heart. He was a very happy person who truly loved life no matter what obstacles were before him. He was always helping others and enjoyed being around all his family and friends and they could count on him when needed. He loved to travel and was musically gifted. Blessed by these gifts from God, he is now using them to praise the King of Kings. David was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Mass in his honor will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2002, at 12 noon at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Odessa, TX with Father Frank Chavez officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.

Juanita C. Franco, 88, of Fort Stockton, died Feb. 2, 2005. Rosary was said Feb. 4 at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass was held Feb. 5 at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Father Floro Hinacay officiating. Burial followed at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
Juanita was born April 26, 1916, in Terlingua. She had been a resident of Fort Stockton most of her life, and was a retired nanny. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
She is survived by two brothers, Simon Franco and wife Chila of Fort Stockton, Florentino Franco and wife Esperanza of Odessa; brother-in-law Natividad Ybarra of Fort Stockton; two sisters, Alejandra Silvas of El Paso and Rita Sanchez and husband Juan of Fort Stockton; sisters-in-law Natividad Franco of Carlsbad, N.M., and Zenida Franco of Fort Stockton; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were under the direction of Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

Deacon Simon C. Franco Sr., 85 of Fort Stockton, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 in Fort Stockton, Texas.
The vigil and rosary service was held at 7p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2008 at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Bishop Michael Pfeifer, O.M.I. presiding. The homilist at the vigil was Deacon Julio Carrasco, a classmate of Deacon Franco. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday October 11, 2008 at St. Agnes Church. Rev. Thomas Manimala presided and Rev. Felix Okeke concelebrated at the Mass, and the homilist was Deacon Reuben Reyes. Several other priests who were present concelebrated and deacons of the San Angelo Dioceses assisted at the Mass. Burial was at the Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements for the funeral were under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Deacon Simon C. Franco Sr. was born January 5, 1923 in Terlingua, Texas. He moved from Terlingua July 4, 1944 to Fort Stockton. He was a retired test driver for Firestone Test Truck Company. He was also a retired shop foreman from the Belding Farms. He was ordained a deacon in the San Angelo Diocese, and served in the Fort Stockton area since 1979. As one of the first permanent deacons ordained in the diocese after the Vatican authorized the restoration of that branch of Catholic clergy, Deacon Franco was a minister to many families and individuals for decades.
He married Maria L. Velasquez, September 22, 1946 in Fort Stockton. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anna Marie Benavides on December 21, 1991, and a son-n-law, Tony Benavides on July 11, 2000.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Franco of Fort Stockton; one son, Simon Franco Jr. of Austin, four daughters; Linda Blanco and Gina Rodarte of Fort Stockton, Mandy Franco and Carol Garza of San Antonio; one brother, Tino Franco of Odessa; two sisters, Rita Sanchez of Fort Stockton; Canda Silva of Las Vegas, Nevada; and 8 grandchildren.

Zenaida Valenzuela Franco, 96, of Fort Stockton, died peacefully at her home Thursday, Nov. 3.
Services were held Monday, Nov. 7, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Steven Franco, Felix Gonzales, Joe Gonzales, Antonio Lujan, Ramon Lujan and Paul Schock. Honorary pallbearers were Simon Franco Jr. and Natividad Ybarra. Arrangements were made by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
Zenaida was born June 5, 1909, in Terlingua. On Sept. 22, 1940, she married Manuel Franco and after Terlingua they lived in Alpine, Hobbs, N.M. and Pecos.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Feb. 9, 1996.
From 1954 to 1957, she was very active in the PTA at Earl Bell Elementary School in Pecos after serving two years as an officer.
She came to Fort Stockton in 1957. She was an active member of the Guadalupanas and helped with the celebrations like the Fiesta de San Juan and Las Posadas.
A very hardworking and religious woman, Zenaida cleaned the Catholic Church in Pecos every week and continued that tradition at St. Agnes Church in Fort Stockton.
Survivors include two sons, Jose M. Franco and wife Lupe Franco of Fort Stockton and Antonio Franco of Syracuse, N.Y.; four sisters, Maria Lujan, Celestina Amatulli and Anita Martinez, all of Alpine, and Petra Gonzales of Fort Stockton; niece, Lucia Valenzuela of Alpine; four grandchildren, Cindy Franco of Nashville, Tenn., Teri Schock of Austin, Kathy Franco of Boston, Mass. and Steven Franco of Austin; and three great-grandchildren, Scott and Chandler Franco of Nashville and Mia Michelle Schock of Austin.

Juanita was born to Vicente and Santos Franco Jan. 5, 1922, in Terlingua. She married Patricio R. Sarabia in February 1949.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Patricio Sarabia; son, Ruben F. Sarabia; daughter, Cecilia Sarabia; and parents, Vicente and Santos Sarabia.
She is survived by her son, Patricio F. Sarabia of Fort Stockton; brothers, Bonifasio Franco and Reymundo Franco, both of Fort Stockton, and Juilan Franco of Odessa; sisters, Rita Abortes and Catalina Esparza, both of Rankin, and Alicia Garcia of El Paso; seven grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Vega, Maria Franco
Maria “Mary” Franco Vega, age 61, of Grandfalls, passed away Friday, September 9, 2005 at her home. She was born January 11, 1944 in Buena Suerte, Texas, to Francisco and Tomasa (Hinojos) Franco. She married Jesus Vega in December, 1963, in Alpine, Texas. A funeral mass in Alpine, and a memorial service in Grandfalls will be held later in the week. Burial will be in the Holy Angels Cemetery in Alpine. Services are under the direction of Family Funeral Services. Survivors are her husband, Jesus Vega of Grandfalls, and sons, Jesse Vega of Grandfalls, Danny Vega of San Antonio, and David “Gis” Vega of Ft. Worth. Also a daughter, Angie Portillo of Alpine. She is also survived by her brothers, Joe Franco, Jesus Franco and Frank Franco all of Alpine, and sisters, Maye Salgado of Odessa and Margie Urquidez of Globe, Arizona.

Isabel Franco Ybarra, 78, of Fort Stockton died Saturday, Dec. 30, 1995 in Odessa.
Rosary was at 7 p.m. Monday in Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Mass was at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 19, 1917, in Terlingua and had lived in Presidio before moving to Fort Stockton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Guadalupanas, Sacred Heart of Jesus Society and Cursillistas.
Survivors include her husband, Natividad M. Ybarra of Fort Stockton; a son, Natividad F. Ybarra Jr. of Elsa; a daughter, Connie Y. Mendoza of Fort Stockton; five brothers, Benigno Franco of Carlsbad, NM, Manuel Franco, Roman Franco and Simon Franco, all of Fort Stockton, and Tino Franco of Odessa; three sisters, Juanita Franco and Rita Sanchez, both of Fort Stockton, and Alejandra “Canda” Silvas of El Paso; four grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

Natividad M. Ybarra Sr., Fort Stockton, died January 6, 2007. He was 92 years old.
Born in Terlingua, December 25, 1915, Natividad had lived in Fort Stockton since moving here in 1948 from Presidio. He was employed as a system A operator at a gas transmission plant.
Natividad and Isabel Franco were united in marriage May 13, 1944 in Alpine. He was a member of the catholic faith, Holy Name Society, church choir and Crusiesta.
His wife, Isabel Ybarra, preceded him in death.
His son Natividad Ybarra Jr. and wife Delva, Elsa and his daughter Connie Mendoza and husband Marcos, Fort Stockton survive him.
Four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
A rosary was held January 8 at the Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held January 9 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Father Floro Hinacay officiated.
Interment was in Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
