Esperanza Quintela Celaya, Fort Stockton, died Wednesday, October 25, 2006. She was 73 years old.
Born November 3, 1932, in Fort Stockton she was the daughter of Julio Quintela and Antonia Quintela. She was a lifelong resident of Fort Stockton. A member of the Quadalupana and Catholic Church, Esperanza worked in the cafeteria for the Fort Stockton Independent School District.
Esperanza and Camilo M. Celaya were united in marriage September 12, 1955 in Fort Stockton. He survives.
In addition to her husband, Camilo, Esperanza is survived by her mother, Antonia Quintela, Fort Stockton, her son, Israel Celaya, Fort Stockton, her daughters, Norma Bueno and her husband, Joe, Carol Gonzalez and her husband, Michael and Regina Benavides and her husband, Jesus, all of Fort Stockton, Linda Tellez and her husband, Javier, Granite Shoals and Rebecca Valenzuela and her husband Frank, Austin.
Her brothers, Jose Quintela, Abel Quintela, Jesus Quintela, Clayto Quintela and Julio Quintela, Jr., all of Fort Stockton; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren also survive her.
Preceding her in death was: her father, Julio Quintela in 2001; her brother, Refugio Quintela in 1952; and her grandson Javier "JJ" Tellez in 1999.
A rosary will be held Friday, October 27 at 7 p.m. in Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. October 27 at the Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 28 at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Stockton. Father Joey Faylona will officiate.
Interment will be in Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
