Manuel “Cougar” Fierro, Jr., 37, was called to our Lord on Saturday, June 12 (2004).
Rosary was recited Friday, June 18, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, June 19, at the church with Father Rick Ruiz officiating. Burial followed in Holy Angels Cemetery. Funeral services were entrusted to Geeslin Funeral Home.
“Cougar” was born Oct. 20, 1966, in Alpine to Manuel and Delia Fierro, Sr. He was a graduate of Alpine High School and had attended Sul Ross State University. Mr. Fierro was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He had also been a coach for Big Bend Little League and the Big Bend Amateur Softball Association. “Cougar” was very active with the Boy Scouts as an Assistant Den Leader of Den 6, Troop 141. He was a band booster for the high school, a member of St. Vincent de Paul, part of the hospitality ministry at the Catholic church, and a life-long resident of Alpine. “Cougar” was a very loving, friendly, warm-hearted gentleman who will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel M. Fierro, Sr.
Survivors include his mother, Delia Fierro, of Alpine; his sister, Victoria Fierro of Alpine; his four brothers, Samuel Fierro and his wife, Annabelle, of El Paso, Randy Fierro and his wife Lilia of El Paso, Bobby Fierro and his wife Mercy of Odessa, and Gary Fierro and his wife Grace of Odessa, 11 nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
