Gilberto Marufo was born in Mexico circa 1893 and immigrated to the United States 1910. He married Rodriga Gamboa circa 1916, probably in San Vicente, Texas. She was born circa 1898 in Texas, the daughter of Bernardino Gamboa and Gomecinda Hinojos (see Bernardino Gamboa Page). In 1920 Gilberto was working at the Mariscal Mine. In the 1930’s he was in the Terlingua area working as an electrician for the Chisos Mining Company. His first wife Rodriga died by 1930. Circa 1934 he married Leonarda Rodriguez. She was born November 2nd, 1902 in Terlingua, the daughter of Valentin Rodriguez and Jesus Navarrete. Gilberto died of a stroke in Brownfield General Hospital, Terry County, Texas, on February 6th, 1973. He is buried in Brownfield Cemetery. Gilberto was a resident of Plains, Yoakum County, Texas at the time of his death. Leonarda Rodriguez died of Apoplexy in Alpine, Texas on July 7th, 1954 and is buried in the Alpine Cemetery.
Gilberto and Rodriga had five children. All of them were born in Brewster County, Texas.
1. Daughter Manuela Marufo was born in Texas circa 1917. She married Tomas Rodriguez in Terlingua on March 25th, 1933. They were married by Justice of the Peace Robert L. Cartledge. Tomas was born in Texas August 2nd, 1909, the son of Valentin Rodriguez and Jesus Navarrete. Tomas died in Hart, Castro County, Texas October 3rd, 1980 and Manuela died there March 5th, 2011. They are burried next to each other in the Hart Cemetery. Manuela and Tomas had seven children:
A. Son Santiago Rodriguez was born July 18th, 1933.
B. Daughter Agustina Rodriguez was born May 28th, 1935.
C. Son Honorio Rodriguez was born December 30th, 1937.
D. Daughter Rosalia Rodriguez was born September 3rd, 1939.
E. Son Cruz Rodriguez was born May 2nd, 1941.
F. Daughter Gloria was born March 8th, 1945.
G. Son Daniel was born June 30th, 1946.
2. Son Eduardo Marufo was born in Texas circa 1918. He died in Abilene State Hospital on March 15th, 1942; he had resided there for nearly 10 years, but his official residence was shown as Terlingua, Texas. He is buried in the State Hospital Cemetery in Abilene.
3. Daughter Juanita Marufo was born March 27th, 1919 in Texas. She died December 30th, 1941 in Fort Stockton of Pulmonary Tuberculosis and was buried in Fort Stockton the following day.
4. Daughter Petra Marufo was born on April 27th, 1921 in Mariscal, Texas. She died on October 30th, 2004 in Odessa and is buried in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Odessa, Texas. She was a resident of Odessa at the time of her death, but had recently lived in Presidio, Texas. Petra had eight children (birth dates and places not available). All of the children were living in Odessa, Texas in October 2004.

H. Daughter Socoro Aguilar. Her married name is Chavez.
5. Son Pilar Marufo was born circa 1924. In October 2004 he was living in Amarillo, Texas.
Gilberto and his second wife, Leonarda Rodriguez, had one child:
1. Daughter Angelita Marufo was born May 18th, 1936. She died of pneumonia in Alpine on March 6th, 1937. She was buried in Terlingua on March 7th, 1937.
