Manuel V. Granado, 71, of Alpine died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, in an Odessa hospital.
Visitation was at the funeral home on December 15 and December 16. Rosary was Sunday evening at the Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was celebrated on December 17, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Father Mike Alcuino officiating. Burial followed in Holy Angels Cemetery. Geeslin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Granado was born on August 1, 1930 in Terlingua to Amado and Victoriana Granado. He was wed to Maria Castillo and had worked as a refrigeration mechanic for both Sul Ross State University and the Parks and Wildlife Service before his retirement. He served his country as a member of the United States Army during WWII. He was also a member of the VFW in Alpine American Legion Post 79, and the Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Maria C. Granado of Alpine, his daughters, Leticia G. Reyes and Lilia G. Nanez of Midland and Laura G. Slight of San Antonio, his sons; Gerald C. Granado of San Angelo and Manuel C. Granado of Alpine; his sister, Delia Fierro of Alpine, 7 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers were Gerald C. Granado, Manuel C. Granado, David Slight, Ignacio Nanez Jr., David Reyes, Bobby Gary Fierro and Manuel Fierro.
