Manuel M. Fierro, 71, of Alpine, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999 at Big Bend Regional Medical Center in Alpine.
Rosary is at 8 p.m. tonight at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with burial to follow at the Holy Angels Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Geeslin Funeral Home.
He was born June 16, 1928, in Balmorhea to Nieves and Agapita Monclova Fierro. He lived in Alpine since 1939. He worked many years for Kimbells, Safeway, and Furr’s for 20 years as a grocery stocker, retiring in 1990.He enlisted into the U.S. Army and, upon dischargement, attained the rank of sergeant. He was a member of the Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and VFW Post 15045. Preceding him in death are his parents and a brother, Fermin Fierro.
Survivors include his wife, Delia Fierro of Alpine, five sons, Samuel Fierro and wife Annabelle, Randy Fierro and wife, Lilia, all of El Paso, Roberto Fierro and wife, Mercy and Gary Fierro and wife, Graciela, all of Odessa, and Manuel ‘Cougar’ Fierro of Alpine; a daughter, Vicky Earwood also of Alpine; two brothers, Rex Fierro and wife, Mary Lou, of Alpine and Eddie Fierro and wife, Olivia, of Presidio, a sister, Isabel Salas and husband, Simon, of Alpine; and 10 grandchildren.
