Eulalia Ramos Portillo, 85, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, in Fort Stockton.
A vigil prayer service was held Monday, June 29, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine. Funeral Mass was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, with Father Miguel Alcuino officiating. Burial was in Holy Angels Cemetery directed by Memorial Funeral Home of Fort Stockton.
Mrs. Portillo was born Feb. 12, 1924, in Terlingua to Eulalia Flores Ramos and Felipe Ramos Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Ermelinda Amy Portillo; sisters Eusebia Ramos, Alvina Ramos Martinez, Ramona Ramos Parras, Lucia Ramos Ramirez and Alta Gracia Ramos; and brothers Felipe Ramos Jr., Alcario Ramos, Juan Ramos, Otillio Ramos, Andres Ramos, Pete Ramos and Enrique Ramos.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel V. Portillo Sr.; five daughters, Margie Ramirez of Fort Stockton, Adelina Sanchez of Presidio, Lorena Rosales of San Antonio and Anna Chavez and Carla Dominguez, both of Alpine; one son, Daniel R. Portillo Jr. of Alpine; a grandson she raised as a son, Michael Ray Ramos Portillo; three sisters, Manuela Cobos of Alpine, Paula Munoz of Odessa and Corey Alvidrez of Las Vegas, Nev.; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
