Estefana Sandate, 81, passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, at her residence.
Rosary was said Sunday, Oct. 5, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Funeral Mass celebrated Monday, Oct. 6, also at the church, with Father Rick Ruiz officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Geeslin Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sandate was born Dec. 26, 1921, in Santa Helena, Texas, to Tomasa Campos and Victoriano Sandate. (SEE NOTE) Estefana was a resident of Alpine for most of her life and was employed at Sul Ross State University for 21 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Estefana was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband, Alejandro Sandate of Alpine; two sons, Orlando Sandate and wife Linda of Baytown, and Victor Joel Sandate and wife Terry of Los Fresnos, Texas; three sisters, Eduvina Lara and husband Lencho, and Virinia Dominguez, both of Alpine, and Carol Tellez and husband Otto of Flagstaff, Ariz.; two brothers, Pedro Garcia and wife Florentina of Midland and Manuel Garcia of Fort Worth; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
NOTE: This is probably incorrect. She was the daughter of Victoriano GARCIA and Tomasa Campos. In the birth record for son Orlando his family name is Garcia.
